Youth Fundraiser Dinner March 29th 6pm

 Good afternoon 5th ward,

I hope you have enjoyed stake conference this weekend. The message that has resonated with me is the continued importance of Connecting with our Saviour Jesus Christ and binding ourselves to him through making and keeping covenants. I have no doubt that we will hear similar messages this coming weekend from our Prophet, Apostles, and the other Leaders that will speak to us in General Conference.

I also wanted to send a copy of the information for our youth fundraiser this coming Wednesday at 6:00. Hope to see you all there!

As a youth organization, we are excited to invite you to our annual youth fundraiser dinner on March 29 at 6:00. All funds raised go directly to supporting our youth programs including the cost of camps, equipment, special events, etc. We have a great group of young women and young men in our ward and we invite you to come and support them at the fundraiser dinner and auction.

When: March 29. Dinner at 6:00pm with auction to begin around 6:45pm

Where: Temple Street Gym

Cost: $5 per person or $20 for a family

Menu: Hawaiian Haystacks

Auction:

We invite you to participate in our auction by donating items such as baked goods, desserts, gift baskets, babysitting services, fun events or outings, food items or meals, services, quality goods that others might want, and so on. There will be silent auction items as well as a live auction. Youth will also have bake sale items for sale at a cost of 1 or 2 dollars as a dessert option.

We haven’t been able to hold this event for a few years due to covid so we hope you can join us for some food, fun, and fundraising!

*We will have gluten free and lactose free options available for the meal.

For Gr. 12's - Institute Welcome

In an effort to transition youth from the Seminary program into the Institute/YSA programs, the Lethbridge Institute has organized some events and classes, specifically for those youth who are graduating this year from high school.

For those outside of Lethbridge, it may be too far to attend the Mission Prep classes after school, but we hope all Grade 12 students will have time to come to our Taste of Institute Classes on April 26th and May 2nd and the Dinner & Devotional on May 21st with the YSA Stake.  Come and bring your friends!

Temple & Family History letter from President Ferguson

Cardston Alberta West Stake Temple and Family History - 2023

Through temple and family history work, “You will find, not only protection from the temptations and ills of this world but, you will also find personal power--power to change, power to repent, power to learn, power to be sanctified and power to turn the hearts of your family together and heal that which needs healing”. Elder Renlund

It is our hope that all the members of the Cardston Alberta West Stake will benefit from the numerous blessings promised to those who engage in the work of salvation through Temple and Family History Work.  We strongly encourage individuals and families to set meaningful, realistic goals that will help you draw closer to the savior as you gain proficiency in the many areas of temple and family history work.

We realize every individual is at a different place on their Family History journey and encourage you to search inward to determine the best way to move forward this year.  At  minimum we would encourage every able member of the stake to; worthily hold a temple recommend, have a ChurchofJesusChrist.org/family search account, know how to log in to those accounts and take your own family names to the temple through ordinances ready.

As many of you know this process is surprisingly simple. To those of you that are apprehensive to take the steps needed to start down this road know that there are many who are willing to help, including family, ministers and called ward and stake temple and family history consultants. If you are already comfortable with ordinances ready, and this process, consider adding memories, indexing, adding names to your tree or help others in any area enabling you to connect with ancestors through the many family search tools available for your use.

Families and ministers, watch for opportunities to help each other where you can. Parents, you will need to lead family discussion and may need to help youth set goals and stay organized. Youth, you may need to help parents with the technology. Ward councils and Temple family history consultants, will council together on how they can best support wards, families and individuals as they work to be successful in their goals.  If we work together we can all succeed!

Our stake temple and family history consultants are there to teach and support where needed. Here are a few resources already in place to help wards and families take advantage of the blessings promised by our inspired leaders.

RS Newsletter March/April

Presidency Message:

TOGETHER or TOGETHERNESS… That’s the word I’ve had on my mind for the last week. Even in my sleep! Which I don’t think is a coincidence given that it’s the anniversary month of the founding of the Relief Society Organization. The whole reasoning and purpose to this organization was to help. And what better way to help than by working TOGETHER! I feel like more than ever, we as a sisterhood, need to BE together. Need to ACT together. Need to STICK together. Through the good times and the rough patches. Together we are stronger. Together we can accomplish a greater work. Love Sister Kristi Shaw
