Stake wide fast this Sunday July 16th

Please invite your ward members to include the need for tempering of elements in their personal prayers as well as prayers over the pulpit.

We are grateful for the faithfulness of the members of the stake and acknowledge that we have been greatly blessed in this area.  Your faith and humility when the Stake fasted a few weeks ago was very much appreciated. 

 

We are becoming acutely away of the need for the elements to be tempered in the area around us.  Pastures and forests are dry and in desperate need of moisture.  Uncontrolled fires are raging in areas of our province that are impacting the lives and living of the people. 

 

On Sunday 16 July, we invite all members of our stake to join together in fasting for the elements to be tempered, in some cases for badly needed moisture as well as to express our thanks for the blessing that we do enjoy.  Natural and man-made disasters are happening far and wide and we encourage you to unite in faith on behalf of those who are in need.

 

Thank you for taking the opportunity to look to the needs of others and be blessed ourselves.

Temple Day of Activities July 18th

Cardston 5th Ward

Dear 5th Ward Members,

We have an exciting day planned full of activities for the entire ward on July 18th with a focus on the temple and coming closer to Christ. We encourage you to participate in this wonderful event.

Leading up to the day it would be wonderful if everyone takes time to prepare by doing some family history work or learning more about the temple. This can be done during family home evenings or during personal and family scripture study.

On the day of the event here are the planned activities:

2:45 Youth meet at the temple to do baptisms for the dead, bring your own names or someone else's from the ward. If you have grandchildren or family visiting they are welcome to come, just make sure they have recommends. If there are any adults who would like to join you are most welcome to come as well.

4:30 Primary children will tour the visitors center, Sunday Dress. There may be a short visit to the entry of the temple to see the fountain.

4:45 - 6:15 Drop-in, come when available.  Dinner at the Temple Street Chapel for all Ward Members. There will be Subway sandwiches and other refreshments. The Temple and Family History Consultants will have various booths with activities for all ages. During this time we will also have photographers available at the courtyard of the temple and at the "I love to see the temple" bench to take pictures of families.

Individuals may choose to go do some sealing and initiatory at this time. Names baptized by the youth will be available at the desk for initiatory, as well as for endowments.

6:45 Ward Endowment Session, arrive at 6:15
Following the Endowment Session there will be a dessert social at the Church for the adults.

This event will culminate with a brief slideshow of the day's activities at our 5th Sunday Lesson on July 30th, where we will learn more about our temple covenants. 

We encourage and invite all to participate. If you are not able to attend any of our scheduled events that day, please find another time to visit the temple and participate.

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced today that it will begin a 120-day temporary expansion of hours at two land border Ports of Entry in Montana.

For several years, CBP has documented a reduction in privately-owned vehicle and pedestrian traffic at some POEs along its northern border with some ports having permanently reduced operational hours prior to 2019.  As part of CBP’s obligation to use its resources responsibly and most efficiently, continual evaluations of workload, staffing, operating costs, and traffic volumes were performed to align operating hours that reflect traffic patterns and place employees where they can be most useful.

This expansion will temporarily expand operational hours at the Piegan Port of Entry (POE) from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week beginning July 16.  The Raymond POE will temporarily expand operational hours from 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week beginning July 30.

Currently, traffic volumes in Montana remain approximately 22% below their 2019 levels.  At the conclusion of the temporary expansion of hours, CBP will conduct an analysis on traffic flow including an hourly breakdown, overall volume, and types of conveyances that crossed the border.  CBP will also identify potential alternate POEs, review community impacts, and consider similar expanded hours at these locations.

CBP is working closely with its partners to discuss the operational details surrounding changes to port hours and is in close coordination with local governmental officials and congressional stakeholders.  These efforts enable CBP to better align staffing during peak hours, which in turn, allow CBP to better serve the public and protect our country.

Cohen in Summer Theatre!

If you have enjoyed Cohen before this summer will be a real treat!  He plays the darling boyfriend of Wednesday (Bronwyn Crawford) in Addams family and you will laugh at his naive sincere portrayal of this character.  See him also in the ensemble in Wizard of Oz.  Happy Summer to Cohen!

Cohen is another one of our up-and-comers. This is his second season with Carriage House Theatre. He was part of the Ensemble for The Little Mermaid last year and is super excited to be back with us. He is a natural on stage and a star football player on the field. His favorite musical is Grease, and he lives by the philosophy, “Life is too short to tie your shoes.” He hates brussels sprouts and would love to own a ferret.
