Cardston has the National Release starting October 10th of 

Six Days in August 

with John Wilson as Brigham Young and his wife Twyla as Brigham Young's wife.  

You will remember them as "Johnny and Twyla" when they did 2 years of Summer Theatre here several years ago (Mary Poppins, Scarlet Pimpernel, Tarzan, Catch Me if You Can). Enjoy seeing Johnny and Twyla again at the Carriage House Theatre!

Young Moms Institute Class (all women 18-35 welcome)

This is Danny Bennett, the Institute Director in Lethbridge.  A new semester of institute has started back up and we're having our Young Moms class again this semester! The first class will be today at 1pm over Zoom and the class will run every Wednesday at 1pm until Dec. 4.  We call it a young moms class as that is our target demographic, but single sisters are welcome to attend.  

This class has been a great blessing to the young moms who have attended!  They really enjoy meeting together mid-week with others in a similar stage of life to discuss the gospel together and draw closer to the Savior.

Justice Eric Brooks appointed an Assistant Chief Justice

A judge who has been working in the region for more than a decade now has a new position.

Justice Eric Brooks will serve as an assistant chief justice in the Alberta Court of Justice, presiding over the base courts of Lethbridge and Medicine Hat, as well as the regional circuit courts in the area.

He received his bachelor of laws from the University of Alberta Law School in 1986.

Brooks started his career in criminal and family law in Edmonton before joining the Legal Aid Youth Office in 1995. He became a Crown counsel with Alberta Justice in 1998 and has been serving the Southern Region as a judge in the Alberta Court of Justice since April 2011.

He has also served as the lead justice in the Medicine Hat Drug Treatment Court.

Assistant chief justices support the chief justice hear criminal cases and statutes under federal, provincial and municipal laws, as well as family and child protection cases and certain civil disputes.

Including Brooks, the province made a total of five judicial appointments across Alberta. Justice Minister and Attorney General Mickey Amery says they each bring high levels of experience and expertise.

“They have consistently demonstrated their deep understanding of the law and commitment to justice throughout their careers. I am confident that they will bring the same intelligence and fairness to these new roles,” says Amery.
