Recipe Request: Sloppy Joes

We wanted to share a recipe with you that we got from one of Fifth Ward's many wonderful cooks - Sister Schaufert.    This recipe was specifically requested and comes very highly recommended.   In fact, rumor has it, that even our very own BISHOP has dubbed this  the best chili burger recipe EVER!

So what are you waiting for?   Try it out with your family this week and then be sure to let Sister Schaufert know how AWESOME it is!

Sister Schaufert's BEST EVER Sloppy Joes

1 1lb ground beef
1 onion chopped fine
1/2 cup green pepper chopped fine (feel free to add more if you'd like)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp mustard
1/2 cup chopped celery
3 tsp Brown Sugar
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp chili powder
1 cup Chili sauce
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
salt and pepper to taste (she uses 1 tsp salt; 1/2 tsp pepper)
Note:  You could also add 1 can of tomato soup if you wanted to

Brown the hamburger and saute the onion and celery.  Add the remaining ingredients and lightly simmer for 35 minutes.

Serve with your favorite buns!

(Thank you Sister Schaufert for so kindly sharing this recipe with us all)

ENJOY!!!

The evening begins at 6:30 pm at the West Stake Centre.
The Stake RS would also like us to remind the Sisters about the goal booklets we all received prior to the Relief Society Broadcast in the fall.

Now would be a great time to complete the challenge!

Soup, Salad, and Scriptures - Recap

We have to give a HUGE thank you to Sister Clark and Sister Ridley!

Wasn't the activity last night wonderful?

For those who missed it-  we first enjoyed a lovely meal of soup, salad, homemade rolls and yummy cake!  Following that- Sister Clark shared with us many tips and ideas that might help us as we strive to study the scriptures with our own families.

Of course we can't forget to mention the challenge that we were recently given by our Bishop and his councillors to memorize a particular scripture each and every month.   What better way to assist with that then to display the monthly scripture where all of our family will see it!

Thanks Melanie for the great tips and ideas- not to mention all of your hard work!   We were certainly blessed by all of your creativity and talent!

We've posted the soup recipes for you all - so just click on the recipe link (to the right) for those.    And don't worry- as soon as we get our hands on the recipe for that SCRUMPTIOUS cake that Sister Ridley made- it will be posted lickety split!

Have a Great Weekend
