Preliminary work to begin on Lethbridge Temple site

https://news-ca.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/preliminary-work-begins-on-lethbridge-alberta-temple-site

Preliminary work will begin this week on the site for the future Lethbridge Alberta Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Crews will begin clearing the nine-acre property located at the corner of Whoop Up Drive West and Mauretania Road.

Approvals from the city allow the Church to initiate some preparatory work on the site. The first steps involve preliminary utility and grading work, including running electricity to the site and installing water and sewer lines. Then, Mauretania Road will need to be repaired in the places where connections were made to the city’s underground utilities. Workers will also be removing excess soil from the site. The goal is to complete this work before cold winter weather arrives.

The design work on the temple is ongoing, and a date for an official groundbreaking ceremony has not been announced yet.

“We are excited for this first step in the process of building a house of the Lord in Lethbridge,” said Elder David C. Stewart, Area Seventy for the Church, Calgary and Lethbridge co-ordinating councils. “This sacred place will be a blessing for the many Latter-day Saints in the area. We are grateful to the city of Lethbridge for their ongoing support and collaboration.”

Brisket!!!! and computer fun!

Brisket dinner for adults in the ward!!!  YUM!!!

It’s a potluck (salad or dessert) and the Elders Quorum is providing the brisket!!!

They NEED an RSVP so they know how many to plan for.

So - John sent this 24 second video to teach you how to use a QR code - it's really quite remarkable!!!  (and there's a link below instead if you don't want to use the code - he's thought of everything for you).

Now - even if you are not going, you should try using the QR code because when people 55 years old say, "oh I can't do computers", I do brag that 5th Ward has lots of people over 70 who can use zoom, youtube, email, blogs, find conference talks, find Come Follow Me, find the new Hymns, pay their tithing, book the temple, etc!!!  Watch the video and try it.  (You are going to go to the camera part on your phone... and then really it does the rest). You can do it!

Now - mine didn't come up with something at the top - it had a little square looking something to press (see below) -

just look for something different on you phone than you usually see when you take pictures and try pushing it - and then get yourself a treat for being so brave!

Here's the same link that the QR code will take you to in case it's not working for you:

Good work everyone!!!
